I love Update 2! Though I kept getting pummeled into space dust! You definitely have something that feel like a real game on your hands here.
I think the only thing that caused problems for me was the controls. Because it isn't first person or use a camera chase style, I had a hard time keeping the directions straight in my head. The coordinate system for the WASD arrows was relative to the player and the mouse location, while my brain wanted it to just be relative to the screen (down arrow moves you downward, left arrow moves you to the left side of the screen, etc.). Or alternatively, if the entire perspective of the game shifted to align to the player's position and and heading, that would probably feel more natural.
But I'm just one person. Perhaps I just haven't played all of the same games as you, and that input scheme is just less natural to me than it is to you. I'd say don't change anything until you get feedback from others.
Keep it up! It looks great! (The music was a lot of fun, too!)
