Is it possible to load an external XML file in XNA?

Is it possible to load an external XML file in XNA?

In the past month I've learned how to use XML files in XNA, by adding them to the content folder (or project in XNA 4) and loading them in the LoadContent method. I'd like to know if it is possible to load an external XML file, a "new" file that isn't in the content project, in the same way.

I don't think it can be loaded through the content pipeline unless it's in the content project. However, XNA is written in C# so anything you can do in C# you can do in XNA. Basically, you would just need to write C# code to get the file you want and import and parse it. So, no it wouldn't be the same but similar enough and not difficult to do.
