This thread is a place to officially declare that you're going to be attempting to make a game in our Game Development Competition #6. It is not required to sign up here. But I still recommend it, if for no other reason than once you've made a public statement that you're going to do it, you're far more likely to follow through on it. (Don't worry if things end up falling apart and you never finish though. We won't beat you up over it.)
I am interested in giving this a shot, I'm an older dog looking to try to learn a few more tricks - something like this sounds fun, and a good way to make me devote some time to C#….
as long as no one laughs! :)
Welcome to the party, scjohnson243! Don't worry, most everybody here is pretty new to game dev and programming, or at least they were when we first started doing these competitions. You'll be in good company!
I'm in for this competition! I think my entry into the competition might be a little different from normal. I might be using it as a way to motivate myself to:
1. Finish the 2nd edition of my book.
2. Get a game-from-scratch set of tutorials out there.
3. Get some basic UI tutorials made.
4. If time, spend a weekend or a week making another smaller game.
I haven't decided for sure. I may still go the route of a full-fledged game in a month, but that's what I'm thinking so far.
I'll be in for this one. Maybe this time I'll actually do something.…
