I've said in other threads in this forum category that I'm tentatively aiming for a collab on the 28th of December and using Git for version control. The good part of that is that many of you are already pretty familiar with Git. The bad part is that we've used Mercurial many times for these collabs, and we have never used Git.
If we're doing a collab on the 28th, I wonder if people would be interested in doing a hands-on training of Git the weekend before that on the 21st? Or maybe the weekend before that on the 14th?
We did a similar thing with Mercurial back in the day and I think it was helpful. (And once you know Mercurial, learning Git isn't too bad.)
Spending some time getting used to the version control system goes a long way towards making the day of the collab go more smoothly. Commits and pushes and pulls happen fast that day, and you want to not be totally lost….
So. Anyone interested in that? Or is everybody already Git Gurus?
