For an awesome website. I've just completed my first Space Invaders clone in C# and XNA and got some invaluable tips and techniques for getting it up and running. Definitely keen on getting "The C# Players Guide" but the only options to get it are $50 + another $30 for freight to New Zealand - Any other places I can order the book from?
You could always buy it digitally via GumRoad.
Why is New Zealand so expensive? It seems like you ought to be able to get it quite a bit cheaper than that. It's $25 on Amazon in the US. Even if you're talking New Zealand dollars, that's still a lot less than the $50 you mentioned. Does Amazon change the price based on your location or something?
If you really want a physical copy, you might also consider ordering it direct from the printer: https://www.createspace.com/3792337
I honestly don't know if that would be any cheaper. CreateSpace is owned by Amazon, so whatever trickery they're using on Amazon.com might also apply on CreateSpace. If you check it out, you'll have to let me know what price it shows.
All good. Found another one on Amazon - only 2 copies that were listed ship internationally and I prefer something to read on the train that doesn't require batteries. Final cost was NZD $66.01 - half of that was freight to NZ (Roughly about $50 USD). It will be worth every cent however. Got some encouraging comments at work regarding my C# XNA game so that's good and will hopefully get me into a development role in the next 12 months :)
Sounds awesome, VinnieV! Good luck! Don't be a stranger.
