Nolin,

Nice image. I really like the frosting and sprinkles on the doughnut. What program are you using?

-Brett

Yeah, perhaps. I do want to keep the "required" workload fairly low so that people don't feel overwhelmed by it. The next time we do something, we might have parallel modeling and texturing events, which might double the time involved for people doing both. Perhaps if I just did both, that might be enough for me to be more consistent with it.

Alternatively, maybe you commit to a certain number of minutes a week or per day of your own choosing, rather than 60 being dictated for everybody. That would allow me to ramp up a little without requiring everybody to.

I suppose I'm just going to be curious to hear if other people are having similar problems or not as the event continues on. We can figure out what to do (if anything) about that problem between events.

RB, it looks good. with the pics you took, I cannot discern that any of the circles are off.

Maybe next art class twice a week would work better?

-Brett

Here's my model for Week #2. It's a Lego minifig.

Made with Blender.
1172 faces, 2712 triangles.
Time: 59 minutes.

I didn't finish the arms. I didn't even start the arms. (I made an object to start modeling it, and then backed out when I realized I wasn't going to be able to hack anything in just a few minutes.) Also, the circle that forms the legs at the top/hip area isn't a perfect circle. It seems like there should be a way to slide a set of points onto the best fit circle, but I couldn't find a way. The Sphere tool made weird circles… If anybody has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I kind of wonder if I shouldn't be doing a bit more modeling than once per week. I definitely felt like I had forgotten a lot of the details when I sat down to make this, and it took some time to knock some of the rust off.

Post your results for the 3D modeling challenge Week #2 here!

Screenshots are great. Perhaps a picture or two of the model (you'll need to upload them elsewhere on the Internet and link to them here. Look at Wikidot's syntax for showing an image.) One with a wireframe would be helpful.

A link to the actual 3D model to download would also be cool, but not required.

Some metadata about your model might be fun as well. The exact number of minutes you worked on it, what you used to make it, poly count, etc. (But don't feel like you need to spend an additional hour on submitting your model. It should only take a few minutes to get it uploaded.)

If you spent more than an hour on your model, I think we'd all still love to see what state things were in at the hour mark as well. (And how much total time you spent on it.)

Due Date: 16 April 2017
