@Brett208, let me repeat that whole paragraph:

As for some of the stuff we've done, we don't have a place where everything is at for the moment. The closest thing would be the demo site I set up to showcase some of my personal works. Towards the bottom are the results of some of the collabs: http://liquidsatin5702.wixsite.com/games. This is something else we need to set up and when I can find some free time, I will be tackling.

So, as you'll see, I don't claim that the link is representative of the collab work. It's a place to showcase some of the things I've personally done or collaborated on. As such, liquidsatin5702 fits perfectly. And technically, that is my user name. The domain name would be wixsite.com.

And I agree, a different link would and will be appropriate for a collaboration specific showcase. Once that starts happening we can figure out what seems best.

We had discussed creating a place under the 'Community Projects' section of the forum for posting some reusable code. Things like the text file serializer/deserialized, networking components, maybe the game object interface and controller interface definitions, etc. Just general stuff we can pluck out and throw into a new collaboration project (or whatever, for whoever) to move things along a little faster. No sense in re-writing existing code that's going to do the exact same thing.
Maybe it would be a good idea to add another just for the collaboration results. Although they are usually under the respective collaboration header, having one place where everything can be 'seen' via some videos might not be a bad idea. @rbwhitaker, what's your thoughts on this?

- Your dear friend, Satan

Ganellon,

Welcome to the forums!

The collaboration will likely occur after the upcoming 30 day competition is over, so maybe around mid-late January. RB will set up a forum page for the collab when we start trying to nail down a firm date and game to work on. I would start looking for that post in late december/early January if you are still interested then.

There is no pre-required amount of knowledge/skill to participate. We get participants who are pretty new to game programming to day job programmers. We would also welcome artists.

For the collaborations, we usually work with C#, MonoGame for the framework, Mercurial for the revision control, and Bitbucket for the online repository.

This video is the result of 2 collab days work on a Xevious clone: http://rbwhitaker.wikidot.com/forum/t-1696758/video-finally

Here is a video of a 3D asteroids clone we made in a day: http://rbwhitaker.wikidot.com/forum/t-1421646/collaboration-results

@PiscesMike, We should consider finding a more neutral domain name then liquidsatan to represent the collaboration results. Especially considering they are mostly arcade clones and not Hexen clones!

Hi Ganellon!

There is no formal process for getting involved with the collabs, or competitions, for that matter. If you want to join, we throw up a sign up form and you're free to toss your name into the hat. So far the times have been fairly random as to when we hold them, but we are in talks of making a more stable schedule.

That being said, we would love to have you! Most of us are hobbyists (with the exception of RBWhitaker of course, and Brett208 who has actually published a game), but we are working towards future releases. It would be cool to have the viewpoint of someone who has worked in the industry. (I've done some film work and am familiar with the production process, but still working on the gaming learning curb).

As for some of the stuff we've done, we don't have a place where everything is at for the moment. The closest thing would be the demo site I set up to showcase some of my personal works. This is something else we need to set up and when I can find some free time, I will be tackling.

Well, time for my 9 to 5, so it was good talking with (to) you, and hopefully we will see you in the Discord chat sometime soon!

Hi everyone.

I poked around the site and the forums, but I'm unable to find additional information about the collaboration process.

I don't pretend to be an expert game programmer, but I have a little experience. I worked for Simutronics (the company that created the game engine for Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO) a few years ago. Most of my programming experience is in C and C++, but I'm interested in other languages as well.

I'd love to take a look at what you've done so far, and see if there is a place I can lend a hand.

Thanks for considering me!

-Drew
