Hi JoshMS, the book is "out" in the sense that I published it. It will take a few more days before it's available on Amazon. (They said 3-5 business days. It's been two now.) If you're paying with a credit card, you can always buy it directly from the printer on CreateSpace: https://www.createspace.com/4884166. Unfortunately, CreateSpace doesn't offer the same options in terms of payment methods, and if you're outside of the USA, I'm not sure what shipping costs might look like.

As for your question about the digital copy, the official answer is no. But I might be able to work something out if you could email me directly. (moc.ansis|38rekatihwbr#moc.ansis|38rekatihwbr or moc.kooltuo|rekatihwbr#moc.kooltuo|rekatihwbr both work for that.)

Is the physical 2nd edition available yet? I can't seem to find it.

Also, does the physical come with a digital copy? I'd love to have a digital copy for when I don't feel like dragging the physical copy around.

Thanks!

So the book doesn't really talk about Unity, other than very briefly. (It mentions it as an option for game development.)

The book isn't about game development. It's purely about the C# language itself. Of course, you have to know the language before you can make games with it, so I don't think it's the wrong choice.

I just wanted to make that very obvious to anybody looking into the book.

It's not about game development (or XNA, or Unity, or MonoGame, or SharpDX) it's about C# itself.

I'll let you decide for yourself if it's the right choice in general for you, or if you want something else more Unity specific.

But as for whether you should wait or not, you should definitely wait at this point. The second edition is only hours away from being finished. Look for it in 12 to 24 hours. I just uploaded the final version to the printer, and at this point, it's just a matter of them approving it and me pushing the button to say, "Publish it."

Of course, if you're buying it digitally, the 2nd edition is already available on Gumroad, so there'd be no reason to wait. I've made a few final changes in my reviews the last few days, and I'll be uploading a minor update to Gumroad as well, but if you've already got the digital version, you'd get the new adjustments for free too.

Hope that helps.
