Greetings all!

Just thought I'd throw up a quick video of what we got done today. It wasn't an exact clone of the original, which is fine, and it's doesn't have all those features - but still, the main body is there, and it's pretty fun to play!

*music is just something free and random from youtube

I for one had a ton of fun working on this today and am quite pleased with the results. Things kind of clicked for me a little more with the interfaces and how RB's gamestate and renderer works. Overall it was great fun and a great learning experience. Have a good one all, and we'll see you in chat!

We should update you on the time and game then. We decided to start at 10 MST, which is 12 EST. So you should be not only on time, but early.

We also decided to do RoboTron, after Ninjaboi flipped a coin. I think it will be a good one for breaking things down into components that individuals can work on, as well as for AI programming.

As far as voice chat goes, I didn't particularly like the way we were treated on that server after you left (I know he was just enforcing the rules, and being a moderator is a tough job, but he wasn't very nice about it) so… I think I'd vote that we just try without the voice server this time around. Of course, if everybody else wants to join the teamspeak server, I'll jump on there too. So it's probably worth bringing up again once people show up and we get started.

It's 2:45 am and I'm posting on my phone, I'm to tired and lazy to sign in but whatever.

I'm in guys!! I'm in EST and plan on waking up and being ready around 11:00 (I don't mind joining in late)
As far as teamspeak, I'm sure that you can use the same team speak channel that we used last time, the rule is that the creator of a custom channel needs to be registered on the website and actually on the channel.. So basically I can't leave or one of you guys can just throw your email onto the website.. Or we can use a vacant lobby (there are plenty of them around, we don't need a custom channel)

Sounds like we've got about four people who are planning on joining for at least part of the collab, which is great!

I'm hoping that we're all positioned somewhere in the world where we can find an eight hour block to work together on this tomorrow. I'm in Mountain Standard Time, and I know PiscesMike is in Eastern Standard Time. AkanTenshu and Ninjaboi, are either of you very far off from those time zones?

My vote for version control is Mercurial and BitBucket. I use Mercurial for everything, personally, and I know PiscesMike knows it as well. If people are around in chat tonight, I'd be more than happy to jump over to Twitch and do a crash course on Mercurial, TortoiseHg, and BitBucket for anybody who doesn't know anything about version control, or isn't familiar with Mercurial. If everyone else wanted to go the Git route, I'd be open to that. (But my preference is definitely for Mercurial.)

As far as language/framework goes, I think the only real viable solution right now is C# and XNA, preferably in VS 2013. MonoGame is an option, but I'm not really in the mood to deal with MonoGame's content pipeline at the moment. So again, my preference is for XNA. (If we make the most awesome game ever (and we won't) then we can always port it to MonoGame pretty easily.)

In a different collab, I'd be open to using other tools. Swatacular and I did some stuff with Unity a couple of weeks ago. We didn't get far, but I think we both learned a lot. (It was also only two hours.) I think at this point, we don't really have enough time to do something different in this collab. I think we just kind of stick with the "default" at this point, which would be XNA and C#. (Of course, if a few people want to split off and do something else, I'm totally fine with that too.)

From the realm of "other technology", in the last collab, we used a voice chat server that Swat is a member of. I haven't heard anything from Swat about this particular collab, so I think it's safe to assume we won't be using that. Even if we could use it, I'm not sure I would. The actual owners kicked us off and didn't act like they wanted us around anyway. We've talked about other voice chat servers, but at this point, maybe it's kind of late to sort it all out. I think between the chat room and online document editing tools like Google Docs we should probably be OK in this regard.

All of this is, of course, open to discussion, but we do need to figure it out sooner, rather than later. We've only got a little while.

I'm in. Really surprised I didn't already sign up on this post. I was talking about the whole thing for a few weeks now but totally forgot that I need to actually say I'm participating :P.

I'll be on the IRC today but from what it looks like we still haven't decided on the method of version control, nor the game we will be doing. I was already fairly certain we were using C#/XNA but that's all I do know.

Is there anybody else planning on signing up? So far, it's just me, with a bit of help from AkanTenshu. There's a small probability that I'll have to spend a chunk of my day tomorrow doing work stuff, which would leave Akan to his own devices for at least part of the day. If that's the case, maybe it would be better to just postpone this until another day.

If somebody else is still planning on signing up, that would change things. Otherwise, I propose we postpone this a couple of weeks.
